FAQ
Is this therapy?
No. Coaching is practical and forward-focused. We work on real-life changes you can make at home. If deeper therapeutic support is needed, I'll always say so and help point you in the right direction.
Who is this work for?
This work can support parents who are expecting, as well as families with babies, toddlers, children, and teenagers. The approach simply adapts to each stage.
What is Simplicity Parenting exactly?
Simplicity Parenting is an approach that helps families reduce overwhelm and create more calm, rhythm, and connection in daily life. Its core ideas are strongly supported by broader child development and family research. I have a page on this website that goes into more detail.
What kinds of families or concerns is this a good fit for?
This work can help when family life feels rushed, tense, reactive, cluttered, or overwhelming. It can also support expecting parents, as well as families navigating behavior, rhythm, boundaries, school stress, peer issues, or screens.
How can we meet?
Sessions can take place over Zoom or in person at my office in Portland, Oregon.
Do you work with families navigating technology and screens?
Yes. This is an area of special interest. The goal is not to be alarmist, but to help families create a healthier and more realistic relationship with technology.
My child is being bullied. Can you help?
Yes. Coaching can help parents support a child through bullying, exclusion, or social difficulties, while also navigating the situation with more clarity and confidence.
How often do we meet?
Most families begin with weekly or biweekly sessions. From there, the pace can shift depending on your needs and goals.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on the situation. Some families come for a short stretch around one issue, while others want support over a longer period of time. Many find it helpful to begin with a small series of sessions.
